Whew, what a day.  I've been busy volunteering for a non-profit that I'm a member of all week and I'm pooped!  It's been fun but there has been a lot of juggling going on around our house with grandmothers and husband keeping the girls while I'm away.  With that said, I've become so thankful that I have time to come to this place and just take a moment to breathe.  Rest.  Find a way to keep going through each day without being overcome by the darkness. It is so easy for all of us to give in to it - an unkind word, a judgmental thought, an angry phone call or encounter - it is just a barrel roll effect of darkness being piled on our shoulders until we reach the breaking point.

But, then there is the light.

The light that we hope for as we wake each morning and start our days.  The light that reminds us to watch our tongues and control our actions.  The light that grabs the load off our shoulders and offers us a place to stay dry while it's raining out.  The light that shines out of the darkness giving us joy.

How do we find this light?  How do we choose to live by it instead of the darkness?

It can be found in the Truth.

The Truth given to us through time spent with our Savior.  Through meditation.  Through reading the Holy Bible.  Through prayer - unrelenting prayers of thanks - prayers that aren't all about us but more for the world around us.  Through unabashed worship that makes the people in the car next to you stare.

The Truth can set you free.

The Truth mends hearts, encourages the mind, and uplifts the body to keep choosing the light each day.  The Truth loves, mourns, and feels our pain.  The Truth brings loved ones back together.  The Truth brings forth joy.

Each day is a choice to be made.  Sometimes circumstances alter our plans, make us reconsider our decisions, or leave us just down-right in the dumps.  One of the truths that I have come to realize about myself is that I have a short temper.  I lose patience easily.  My day can change in an instant and is lost to the darkness.

But, I want to change.

And, I'm going to.  It's not going to be overnight.  It happens over time and as circumstances occur.  It's how I choose to handle those moments of frustration that arise.  It's fighting off the darkness with deliberate actions of self-control.  It's gonna take more surrounding of the Truth than ever before, but it's the way to be set free and to live life victoriously.

Till next time, let your light shine!

Blessings, christen
