Quickly, a weekend can pass us by. The anticipation of a Friday night.  The blissfulness of a Saturday morning.  The sweetness of Sundays.  It all goes by way too fast.  If I could catch weekend memories in a bottle, I'd be a billionaire.  Those moments help make up this wonderful thing we call life.  With today being the start of a new week, I want to share my beloved Truth #8: I enjoy a simple life.

While my college days were spent dreaming of the glitz and glam of city life, I find myself now caught somewhere closer to simple rather than city.  I am perfectly content with a trip to the park instead of a night on the town.  While it's nice to get away from time to time (as I mentioned yesterday) I must confess that these simple moments are what I enjoy best.  Maybe it's because I don't build up my expectations of these moments.  They are unplanned and with that comes the freedom to just be.  It offers a tiny chance to quiet my soul and enjoy the company of the people I love most.

Simplicity brings forth beauty.

Beauty to see life the way it was intended to be lived.  Not of fuss, stress, or cattiness, but of love, laughter, and joy.  When we allow ourselves to unwind from the world around us and tap into these moments of serenity, we capture our hearts with gratitude.  We give thanks for our daily bread.  We begin to notice the splendour of this world and are reminded that we belong to a God that cares.

A God that welcomes us each day.

A God that delights in our discoveries.

A God that holds on to us as we experience the thrills of this life.

A God that we can call friend.

When our eyes are clear, our hearts are pure, and our minds are at peace, we allow ourselves to enjoy life simply.

A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life

Proverbs 13:7 (The Message)

Till next time, let your light shine!
