Five Minute Fridays is a writing flash mob held by the lovely Lisa-Jo at The Gypsy Mama. It’s where a community of writers come together and write about one word for five minutes. This week’s word is again .
I read her words again and again. She's one of my favorites, you know. It's like she and I have shared bunk beds our whole lives and whispered how small we feel in this big world that God has set us in. She tells me how Shame took away her Joy. I confess that he has a tendency to do the same to me, along with his buddy Fear.
But, she urges me to let go of the try hard life. And, halfway through absorbing her words, I do.
God doesn't want me to try hard for his love. He just wants me to love. Same for you. He doesn't want me to get caught up in the achievements or the race or even the voices of Discouragement and Disappointment that tell me I'll never live my dream.
Because I am living my dream.
I love Jesus. And he loves me. He loves me so much that he gave me a family to love in return. Tonight, my oldest and I had a shouting contest about how much we love each other. We both won.
That's the thing about letting go of the works and holding on to God's love. He shouts how he loves us, again and again.
Might we listen and live abundantly in his love?
Till next time, let your light shine!
