"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encouragement is a gift. It's given through kind words, heads bent together in prayer, a meal, a handwritten letter, a hug. Encouragement is opened in e-mails, restaurants, message boards and kitchen tables. Encouragement from one inspires courage in another.
This past weekend, I got to experience encouragement in its rawest fashion. Almost 300 women gathered at Covenant on Saturday for our "Living Your Royal Destiny" conference. Many faces I'd never seen before and others were a warm embrace. But it didn't matter how long we had known each other because by the end of the day, we were daughters of the King, encouraging and building one another up.
My heart for ministry is to be an encourager. My spell check doesn't even identify encourager as a word but to me, it's part of my job title. Not only for my job job, but my job as a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend. If I'm not building someone in my life up, then that might mean I could be tearing that person down. Boy, that's not how I want to live.
This space has been a place for me to encourage others for almost five years. In those five years, I've tried to speak the truth, open up my heart, and give you a glimpse into our family. I've gone up and down emotionally and have shared more through the written word than I ever imagined I would. You, the reader, have inspired me to be courageous with my words.
For that, I'd like to say thank you. I'm grown from a scared 25 year old who had no idea what she wanted to be when she grew up into an almost 30 year old (yikes!) that has seen God move. I'm beginning to understand more of who he has called me to be and how He is guiding my life. I've faced a lot of doubt and overcome a lot of fears in five years but I can honestly say that your encouragement has kept me going.
If you've been a truth-seeker for a while now, you know that I love to celebrate y'all every year on Valentine's Day. Last year we revealed the new look for illuminate (and gave away some sweet goodies!).The year before that, we gave you the Free e-book "God's Love for Me." Well, this year is no exception! I'll be giving away a fun winter gift this February 14th and want to invite you to pop by here on this chocolate-induced choma day to see what the giveaway is all about. You are loved and you deserve to know it!
Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for encouraging me to shine my light. It is my prayer that you are encouraged to let your light shine too.
Till next time, let your light shine!
