This word - wait - holds much weight doesn't it?
Two Saturdays ago, a group of women openly confessed the weight they carried of waiting. Waiting on the right guy, waiting on The Guy. Waiting during a season of suffering, waiting for the next season of their lives. Waiting is heavy work, hearts grow weary; bottoms need a place to sit.
The benches of our lives provide us a place to sit - a place to be still - a place to wait patiently for our Prince of Peace. So often, the bench is viewed as punishment; but might this time out be just what our weighty souls need? A time to take a deep breathe, let go of the shaky uncertainty of our present time, our past, our futures and wait patiently to feel his peaceful presence sitting right there with us?
Because when we allow His Peace to enter into our souls, the uncertainty of life feels more certain; purposeful. We trust that He has a plan for us and it is good. We still don't know what that plan is but we believe that we are loved, we are chosen. The weight of waiting is exchanged for the worth of waiting.
Don't wait to feel loved today by the things of this world. Find a bench to sit at this morning and feel the peaceful presence of Jesus Christ. Give him your worries; your weight. When you are finished in time out, I want you to get up and get on with your day.
Because that's the thing about waiting - it doesn't last forever. The bench is temporary relief from a life of motion.
Get going with The One who is always with you.
Till next time, let your light shine!
