Last fall, my friend Courtney and I flew to Springfield, Missouri to check out a women's event hosted by Jennifer Rothschild called Fresh Grounded Faith. This event was held at a local church and other churches in the community helped out and invited their women to attend. As we got the tour behind the scenes, the event seemed to have an answer to every question. It was organized and most importantly, the women were excited. As I sat in a sanctuary filled with women praising God, I knew that we had to bring this experience to our own community.
I'm so excited to announce that the Fresh Grounded Faith conference will be coming to Dothan on February 6th-7th, 2015. Our event will feature Jennifer Rothschild, Stormie Omartian, and Meredith Andrews. Covenant United Methodist Church will be hosting the event and we invite other churches from our community to partner with us as co-host churches.
If you'd like to learn more about the event, come to our kick-off meeting tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 26th, at 6:30 p.m. It will be in our Fellowship Hall and childcare will be provided. Jennifer will be skyping in with us and we can't wait to join hands with other believers to bring this spirit-led event to our community!
Jennifer's life drastically changed at the age of 15 when she lost her sight. Now, more than 30 years late, Jennifer travels the country offering fresh, sensible, Biblical advice to audeiences who, like her, are determinded to pursue healthy and productive lives. Covenant is offering two of her studies this fall: her latest book, God's Just Not Fair on Monday mornings at 9:30 and Me, Myself, and Lies on Wednesday nights at six.
Stormie Omartian is a bestselling author who personally connects with readers by sharing experiences and leassons that powerfully illustrate how God changes lives when we learn to trust in Him. She is the author of The Power of a Praying series which has sold over twelve million copies.
Meredith Andrews has always had a gift for writing honest, compelling songs that resonate powerfully with an audience. This Dove Award-winning artist forms a strong bond with her audience and she shows her vulnerability in her latest project Worth it All.
If you are as excited as I am about this event, come to our kick-off tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. This is truly going to be an event that you don't want to miss and we are so honored to be bringing it to our community.
Some of my friends at other churches are offering other Bible studies this fall that I hope you can join. Getting involved in a study is so worth your time and I love the friendships that are formed out of our common love of following Christ. I encourage you to find a study that fits in with your schedule!
- Beth Moore's Children of the Day (a study of 1 & 2 Thessalonians) will meet at Calvary Baptist on Tuesday at 5:45 (study led by Becky Kite).
- Vicki Courtney's 5 Conversations to have with your Daughter is on Sunday afternoons at First United Methodist Church Dothan
- Ridgecrest Baptist is offering a study called Downpour on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m and will have teachings on "How to Study your Bible" led by Margaret Kennedy.
- Wiregrass Church will be featuring a Bible study on Thursdays with leader Amy Edge.
Again, if you want to be part of something BIG in our community, come to the kick-off tomorrow night!
Till next time, let your light shine!
