we've been matched! {adoption update}

Receiving the news on May 15 that we had been matched was such a sweet gift from the Lord. The only way that I can explain it is that it felt right. There wasn’t hesitation or questioning involved and the phone call that we had brought us to a new level of believing that our decision to adopt was the right decision for our family. Raleigh James is scheduled to be born on Monday, June 10, and we can’t wait to meet him!

01 // what my social media sabbatical taught me this summer

Sabbath is part of the creation story, what God did on the seventh day not because He needed rest but to model a behavior of rest to us, His chosen and loved people. While my sabbatical has been an extended break over the summer, my hope is to continue this action of pressing pause once a week as my family transitions out of summer and into our fall schedule. Even though my sabbatical has come to an end, I look forward to receiving the gift of Sabbath in the weeks ahead.

Read more in today’s post about what my sabbatical taught me this summer and how you can take a sabbath break too.

why I'm taking a summer sabbatical from social media

This summer, I’m going off-line and taking a sabbatical from social media.

A sabbatical is a short term break that can produce long term results. A sabbatical is another form of practicing the Sabbath, which is typically a day of rest. People will often take sabbaticals from their professional careers for a month or up to a year so they can travel, study, or write. Our souls need sabbaticals so that we can live life in the Spirit. To live in the Spirit, we have to rest in the Spirit.

Read more in today’s post about why I’m choosing to take a sabbatical from social media this summer. Hey, you might just want to take one too!
