This morning, my devotional was about friendships. The author was saying how friendships can come in a variety of ways - through children, hometown connections, cyberspace - the list can go on and on. She said that as women, we often struggle with feeling lonely or withdrawn because of our lack of friendships. I must say, I cherish my friends. I am the world's worst at remembering birthdays and talking on the phone but I truly am so thankful for all of the friends that I have made over the years. Making new friends can be hard. I remember in college I was so lonely at first because I had trouble making new friends. Since we have lived in different cities after college, my best advice is to put yourself out there in order to meet new friends. Even if you feel uncomfortable walking into a room of strangers, keep going. The one thing that has made Montgomery our home has been our friends. Even though our summer has been busy with travels, we still have gotten to spend some good time with our friends as we celebrate births, birthdays, and just good time fun. On June 28th, we finally got to welcome the C Family twins into this world! Claire weighed 7lbs. and 21 in. long. Camryn weighed 6lbs. 14 oz. and 19in. long. Mom and babies did great! I still think it is the coolest that God blessed both Ashley and I with twin girls. We can't wait to hang out with our best twin friends :)
We also got to meet sweet little Lexie this summer. Lexie is the little sister to Tripp, my friend Ashley's first-born. She was so stinkin' cute when we went to see her. Our girls were not in the mood for picture-taking (they were too busy playing with Tripp's toy cars!) but I did manage to snap a picture of Tripp and Lexie. Already a great big brother :)
One of my favorite meals to deliver is my Cheesy Chicken Croissants and Green Bean Casserole. The croissants are great as leftovers and kids usually will eat the green beans because they are slathered in cheese. My family makes Green Bean Casserole slightly different - we use sour cream instead of cream of mushroom. Also, we like to add two sweet 'n low packets on the bottom of the dish with the melted butter...that is what my mom does and I do it now too. Gives it a little somethin' special I think.
Before the 4th of July, we drove down the interstate a bit to play with our friend Taylor. Her little sister, Kathryn is still a newborn so we will have to take a picture with her next time! It was so nice visiting with my friend Jill from college and I can't wait for our next visit together!!!!
Our sweet friend Laney turned one this summer too. Her birthday party was a perfect celebration! (To see the outfit I made her, click here.)
We are so grateful for our Montgomery friends. All of our schedules have been a bit crazy this summer but we still managed to have some backyard pool parties. Perfect way to beat the heat!
When it is too hot to play outside, we have been fortunate enough to attend our church play group this summer. To see the babies climbing and crawling everywhere is such a sight! It is a fun time to talk to other moms and let the girls play with some friends they don't get to see quite as much. If you ever attend a playgroup, my biggest suggestion would be to either eat before or bring snacks that are easy to grab because there isn't really a great moment to sit down and eat a meal!
Please say a prayer for our friends JW and KC. For those of you that have been reading JW's posts, they are adopting sweet Zoe Grace from Ethiopia. After a year of paperwork, fundraising, and prayers they are finally heading to Ethiopia this week to bring her back to her FOREVER HOME! We are so excited to finally welcome Zoe into our circle of friends!!!!
Till next time, let your light shine!
