This past weekend, I was honored to speak at my church's Youth Retreat.  The theme for the weekend was for the youth to learn how to be "set-apart" in their actions, appearances, and relationships.  The weekend was divided into girls and guys and then they came together for the final session.  This was my first time planning biblical talks for the whole weekend and I have to admit I was a little nervous!  The Prices' got some quality time in with the girls so I could focus on getting my talks ready for the weekend.  The house was so quiet but I must admit that I got everything done :) Friday night we began with discussing how our actions are to be set-apart for Christ.  I shared how our actions can be worldly and we selfishly act on our own fleshly desires.  Or, we choose to take thought into our actions and ask for God's guidance as we make decisions, thus becoming set-apart.  My sweet Montgomery friends came that night to hear me speak.  I am so blessed to have such supportive friends!

Saturday morning, we talked about appearances.  I think this talk really hit home to a lot of the young girls.  Don't you remember how much you struggled with your looks and what others thought of you in high school?  As girls, we put such an emphasis on what we are expected to look like or buy that we become filled with this pressure to perform a certain way.  In order for us not to give in to the pressures of this world, we must focus our identity on Christ.  My sweet friend, Ashley, got up super early and came to Montgomery to hear me speak.  It was such a surprise to see her sitting in the back row.  Her friendship is truly one that I thank God for.

Saturday afternoon, the girls and guys came together for the last session.  Raleigh joined me and we discussed our relationship with each other but also how Christ is at the center of that relationship.  It was so fun to have a "back-and-forth" type of session with him and I think the youth enjoyed it.

Our friend, JW, allowed me to borrow his tape recorder so I could record these talks.  Maybe I can get them on the blog sometime soon so y'all can take a listen if you want!  Also, if you think your church might be interested in a retreat like this, do you mind passing my information along?  Remember, I have an Events page on the website that lists out all of my speaking topics.  I'd be happy to tailor them to fit a certain audience.

It was a great weekend filled with the love of Christ!  Thank you Chelsea for asking me to speak, it was truly an honor :)

Till next time, let your light shine!

Blessings, christen
