Hello friend and welcome to July!

It’s hard to believe but now that the fourth of July has come and gone, we are officially at the halfway mark of summer. I know many of us are just getting into our summer stride after a busy month of June and are looking forward to some much needed down-time before school approaches in August. It’s hard to believe that we’ve already been out of school for a month and now the shelves of Target, Wal-Mart, and Office Max are being lined once again with back to school supplies. I’m in a group text with some of my favorite mom friends and one friend sent us a meme on July 5th that simply said:

Ha, isn’t that the truth?! Fourth of July not only marks the middle of summer but also the middle of our calendar year. While there are so many fun things on that list to look forward to, it’s also easy to feel behind and the need to catch up. When I start to feel this way, anxiety creeps in and I lose any sort of peace that I had inside my soul. I need help preparing my heart for the second half of this year, and prayer is the one thing that helps me most when I feel overwhelmed.

In today’s podcast I interview my friend Julie Sanders, author of The ABCs of Praying for Students. I met Julie almost seven years ago at a retreat for another writing team that we were both on and instantly fell in love with her calm and peaceful demeanor. Julie is a teacher committed to encouraging grown ups to engage the power of prayer in their student’s education. She isn’t sure when she first learned to love learning, but education has been written in her story as long as she can remember. Over more than twenty-five years of work in education, she has been a teacher, professor, mentor, tutor, consultant, trainer, and leader. Most recently, she directed early learning programs across Eastern Oregon. Julie’s professional experience and education shape her message of lifting up learners through the power of prayer.

Join us in today’s podcast to learn more about how prayer is the most important tool not on your school supply list. You’ll also receive Julie’s tips for praying over your child’s placement, planning a prayer night, and praying for your child’ teacher. If you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed with the thought of school being just around the corner, Julie’s words will be an encouragement to your soul.

Celebrating you,

Christen
