refresh your home with Mrs. Myers

As I've gotten get older (and busier), I’ve learned that spring cleaning doesn't have to to be a huge, time-consuming affair in order to be effective.

Even if you don’t have time for a deep clean, something as simple as throwing open the windows or wiping down the countertops with a spring-scented cleaner can breathe new life into a tired space.

To help you refresh your home, my friends at Grove Collaborative are offering a free spring cleaning set with your first order of $20:

  • Mrs. Meyer’s Spring hand soap

  • Mrs. Meyer’s Spring dish soap

  • Mrs. Meyer’s Spring multi-surface spray

  • Grove Collaborative bubble-up brush

  • Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges

Existing customers will receive free Grove walnut scrubber sponges — they’re sustainably made and perfect for all your spring cleaning tasks!

After a dreary winter, I always look forward to the return of spring and Mrs. Meyer’s spring scents: Mint, Peony, and Lilac. Mint smells just like the real thing — sweet and cool. Peony and Lilac are subtle floral scents that remind me of a spring garden in bloom.

To me, a clean home begins with the products you use — so I’m always looking for ways to eliminate toxins in my cleaning routine. All of Mrs. Meyer’s products are made with plant-derived ingredients and essential oils, so I can feel good using them around my family.

In addition to Mrs. Meyer’s soaps and multi-surface spray, the spring cleaning set comes with a limited edition Grove Collaborative bubble-up brush with a beautiful wildflower print. Not only does it look beautiful sitting next to my sink, it also makes the task of doing dishes much more enjoyable!

Now that sunny days are in the forecast, I’m all for anything that helps me get things done faster and have more time to work in my garden or go for a walk.

That’s where Grove Collaborative comes in! Grove makes creating a healthy, beautiful home effortless and affordable. They hand-select the best natural products and deliver them (carbon offset) right to your doorstep, on your schedule. Grove has you covered for all your spring cleaning needs.

01 // what my social media sabbatical taught me this summer

Sabbath is part of the creation story, what God did on the seventh day not because He needed rest but to model a behavior of rest to us, His chosen and loved people. While my sabbatical has been an extended break over the summer, my hope is to continue this action of pressing pause once a week as my family transitions out of summer and into our fall schedule. Even though my sabbatical has come to an end, I look forward to receiving the gift of Sabbath in the weeks ahead.

Read more in today’s post about what my sabbatical taught me this summer and how you can take a sabbath break too.

why I'm taking a summer sabbatical from social media

This summer, I’m going off-line and taking a sabbatical from social media.

A sabbatical is a short term break that can produce long term results. A sabbatical is another form of practicing the Sabbath, which is typically a day of rest. People will often take sabbaticals from their professional careers for a month or up to a year so they can travel, study, or write. Our souls need sabbaticals so that we can live life in the Spirit. To live in the Spirit, we have to rest in the Spirit.

Read more in today’s post about why I’m choosing to take a sabbatical from social media this summer. Hey, you might just want to take one too!

how to create calm amidst the holiday chaos

We're in that magical and slightly maddening stretch of the year where the calendar is overflowing with holiday parties, celebratory dinners, and family get-togethers.

For the most part it's fun, but sometimes all the activity can leave me feeling frazzled.

In those moments, it's especially important to me that our home feels like a retreat from all the busyness.

Scent is one of my favorite ways to create a calm, restorative atmosphere, so I'm thrilled that Mrs. Meyer's is bringing back my favorite seasonal scents: peppermint, orange clove, and Iowa pine. This week only, Grove Collaborative is giving away free Mrs. Meyer’s Holiday Sets to new customers. Learn more about why I recommend these products in today's blog post.

5 books you will love this fall

This week my family is on fall break and we are enjoying some free time around the house. Whenever we are on a break from school, I love to sit down with a cup of tea while the kids are napping/resting and read. Reading is my vacation, a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday living, a moment of retreat. Today, I wanted to share with you five books that I think you will love this fall {+ a giveaway at the end!}.
